Classes

Readiness Pre-Kindergarten

These classes are designed for children who will be 4 years old by Sept. 30 and 5 years old who will attend Kindergarten next year.  The Pre-K class will help develop academic and social skills in preparation for a successful Kindergarten year.  This class meets 3, 4, or 5 mornings each week from 8:30 to 12:00.

Discovery

These classes are designed for children who are 3 years old or will be 3 by September 30.  Most children are experiencing preschool for the first time.  Emphasis in this class is primarily on social development though age appropriate academic skills are covered.  Interactive play and hands on experiences are important for this age group.

We offer a Mon/Wed/Fri  class, a Tues/Thurs/Fri class, and (if sufficient enrollment) a Tues/Thurs class, mornings from 8:30 to 12:00.

Toddler Time

These classes are designed for children who are 2 years old or will be 2 by September 30.  The goal for this class includes socialization, encouraging creativity and curiosity, enhancing language skills and interactive play.  One class will meet on Monday/Wednesday mornings and another on Tuesday/Thursday mornings from 8:30 to 12:00.

Special Enrichment Classes

Music

Twice a month, your child will come together with Wendy Redfern, our music teacher, to experience different styles of music, instruments, rhythms, and songs.  This class also prepares us for our Christmas and Graduation programs.

Movement

Once a month, your child will meet with Kelly Bergmann, our Physical Education teacher, to learn developmentally appropriate skills.  Activities will include throwing, jumping, balancing, galloping, and skipping.  Props like parachutes, hula hoops, cones, tunnels, and bean bags will all be used.

Library

Each class will visit the Rockbridge Regional Public Library (across the street from the preschool) every other week for story time with the children’s librarian.  Your child’s teacher will inform you of her scheduled visit.

Chapel

Once a month, your child will be exposed to a lesson about Christian values or a Bible story in an organized Chapel setting.  These will often revolve around the season or holiday that is nearest.   Our pastor, Joe Cailles,  is our Chapel leader.
